About Ostrea Hotel

Boasting the longest defensive wall in Europe, the town has existed since 1333, when its people built stone houses, surrounded by the sea. Mali Ston is a town with a tradition of preserving natural beauty. Ston is famous for its oysters and top quality white fish.

The Ostrea Hotel was built by renovating the old house of the Kralj family, who manage and run the hotel today. The Ostrea opened its doors to guests in 1998 and is located near to the 'Kapetanova Kuca', an excellent restaurant owned by the same family. The name, by the way, is acquired from a beautiful shell - oyster, in Latin: OSTREA EDULIS.

The Ostrea Hotel makes an ideal place for guests craving peace and relaxation amongst wonderful scenery, just the quiet and murmur of the sea outside and only a short walk to the nearest (small) beach.

The hotel has 13 rooms in total: Economy, Standard, Superior and a Presidential Room. Each room is air-conditioned, has a PC outlet, a direct phone line, satellite TV and a mini-bar.

Facilities

The Mlinica restaurant is located on the ground floor inside the Ostrea Hotel with a large terrace outside. It was given this name after olive mill (mlinica) that produces luxuriant and healthy olive oil, which is served in the hotel.

Restaurant 'Kapetanova Kuca': this popular restaurant, also owned by the Kralj family, can be found on the Mali Ston waterfront. It used to be the dwelling place of the Mali Ston Guard Captain, hence the name. It opened back in 1986 and offers specialties of Mali Ston Bay, locally produced olive oil, fresh fruit and vegetables from the family's own eco-garden and includes a large choice of local Peljesac wines.

"if people are into walking there is a great castle on the top of the hill at Omis - you can either walk from the car park next to the river close to town (this is a solid 45 min climb or you can drive round the other side and then its a shorter walk. Well worth the visit for the views - the castle is interesting but not in wonderful repair. There is also a smaller tower that you can access from a couple of the streets in town (10 mins max) that also has lovely views and is in better repair with a ..."
