Central Croatia, touring the coast, islands and national parks from Split; includes Plitvice Lakes, Zadar and Cetina Valley.
START / FINISH - Split
Activity code: CRFD05
Duration: 8 Days
If you have limited time and wish to make the most of your visit to Croatia, particularly if you have already been to Dubrovnik, then this very popular circuit of central Croatia is ideal. The itinerary splits your time between the coast and its islands and takes you inland as far as the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Your holiday begins with a smooth transfer service to your hotel in Split where you have the remainder of the day to visit the city on foot. You can also visit Trogir across the bay using the local ferry during your free day. Collect your hire car and head straight into the countryside in the direction of your first major stop, the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park. Each day's drive is not so far giving you plenty of time to do some sightseeing, walking or to take an extended lunch / picnic along the way.
Your return to the coast is at the lovely old town of Zadar which also has some innovative new sights up its sleeve. Hidden nearby is the pretty village of Nin and you may also like to drive across the bridge to see the unique scenery of Pag Island. The final leg of your journey takes you via Sibenik and the Krka National Park to the incredible Omis at the mouth of the Cetina Valley. Here you may consider doing some rafting or try the mulit-zip-wire experience. From Omis it is a relatively short drive back to Split Airport for your flight home.

Itinerary
Arrive in Split; private transfer directly to your hotel in Split or Trogir. Balance of day for sightseeing on foot through the historic narrow streets.
Delivery of hire car to your hotel; explore the beautiful countryside along road no.1 heading inland towards the famous Plitvice Lakes National Park. Your route will take you through the historic towns of Sinj and Knin and you may also like to detour into Bosnia & Herzegovina to visit the Una Valley Nature Park.
A full day to explore the national park using the transport options included in your entry ticket together with some walking around the impressive natural wonders. We recommend pre-booking your tickets to ensure entry at a time of your choosing; these can be included as part of your holiday itinerary.
Drive down to the coast via a choice of routes, such as Otocac, Senj & Paklenica or Gospic & Paklenica or maybe Gracac & Pag Island. Explore Zadar old town for dinner on arrival, visiting the fascinating Sea Organ and the ingenious "Greeting to the Sun" at the Riva.
More time to visit the historic old town of Zadar and its market and enjoy a little cafe culture. Whilst here you may also like to visit the nearby seaside town of Nin, Pag Island, Lake Vrana or any of the nearby islands such as Dugi Otok or the Kornati Islands National Park.
* If you would like more time for activities and/or relaxing at the coast in Omis then we recommend reducing your stay in Zadar to one night and bringing forward your journey to Omis on Day 6 (or perhaps adding an extra night).
Your route today will depend upon where you wish to visit en route to Omis. If you choose to use the main highway for at least some of your journey then you can easily visit historic Sibenik and the National Park of Krka; however, you may elect to simply enjoy the spectacular coast road via Biograd, Pakostane and Primosten.
For your final day in Croatia you may like to try rafting or the zip-wire experience in the stunning Cetina Valley prior to dropping off your hire car at Split Airport for your evening flight home.
NB. if you have a morning or early afternoon flight home then you may wish to have an extra night in Omis.
