About Atlantic Coast
Morocco's Atlantic coastline is stunningly beautiful, it stretches for hundreds of miles and is for the most part totally undeveloped. Agadir in the south is the only resort as such, although the beaches at Essaouira and Mirleft are also large and impressive. We have selected small hotels and riads in Agadir and Essaouira plus a few great places to stay in the smaller, more off the beaten track destinations, such as Safi, Mirleft and Sidi Ifni. The cities of Rabat and Casablanca are also on the Atlantic Coast but they are described in detail on our Imperial Cities pages.
Agadir is the perfect holiday resort, boasting many great value and luxury hotels along the beach; its famous micro-climate provides a minimum of 300 days of sunshine a year and has all you need for a great beach holiday. Further north you will encounter the traditional seaside towns with great fishing heritage such as Safi, El Jadida and Essaouira, each of these also has a historic town to explore and a wonderful beach and a small selection of fantastic riads.
To the south there are many miles of stunning, undeveloped coastline with just a few small resort-towns such as Mirleft and Sidi Ifni. These locations are unspoilt and beautiful, perfect for exploring on a fly-drive holiday or simply a short break away from the crowds.
In the far north we would recommend Asilah, an old Hispano-Moorish town surrounded by ramparts dating from the Portuguese period. Since the 1970s, the town's cachet has attracted many artists including several Moroccan painters; many of their works can be admired directly on the town's walls. Oualidia is a very peaceful location on Morocco's Atlantic coast between Casablanca and Essaouira with a reputation for oysters and lobsters. It is relatively deserted outside the summer season so is perfect for secluded walking, sun bathing or peaceful boat trips.
We look forward to being of service.
