About Bovec
Bovec & the Soča Valley – Alpine Adventure and Natural Wonders
Bovec is situated alongside one of Europe’s most captivating rivers, in the most picturesque Alpine section of the Soča River as it flows from the Julian Alps. The river’s waters transform from light blue to turquoise, emerald and green as they pass over a variety of rock formations. This dramatic natural landscape is rich in diversity, with numerous waterfalls cascading into tranquil pools, hidden ravines, lush flora in summer, and snow-draped evergreens in winter.
The Soča Valley is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering the widest variety of hiking and mountain biking trails in Slovenia. The Soča River Trail, the oldest and longest nature trail in Triglav National Park and now part of the Alpe-Adria Trail, stretches from the river’s source to Bovec. Even a short walk along the trail makes for a memorable family picnic, providing an unforgettable opportunity to explore the secrets of the valley, river, and surrounding mountains.
Visitors can enjoy fly fishing, golf, panoramic flights, or even skydiving, all while soaking in the stunning mountain vistas that define the area.
Kanin – Sella Nevea is Slovenia’s only high-mountain ski area, located in the south-west of the Kanin range, just 60 km from the Adriatic Sea. In 2009/10, the ski areas on both sides of the Kanin massif were united, creating the first cross-border ski resort in Slovenia and Italy, offering winter sports enthusiasts a unique alpine experience.
We look forward to being of service.
